Abstract

The standards for the protection of human rights, including the guarantee of the right to life,
can be found in international human rights law and the domestic legal orders of individual
countries. The article concentrates on presenting the methods of regulating the protection of life
in European constitutional law and the jurisprudence of the constitutional courts. It puts
emphasis on the Polish constitutional order compared to other European countries and considers
the abortion issue in constitutional law in the light of the recent legal changes in Poland.
